Nigerian music star Davido gave a tearful eulogy on Thursday at the funeral of his close associate, Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo, held at the Church of Our Lady of Victories in Kensington, London. Ubiribo, a 44-year-old businessman and prominent figure within Davido’s inner circle, died suddenly from a heart attack on March 6, 2026, while in the Philippines.
Speaking before family, friends, and members of the 30BG and DMW crews, Davido struggled to contain his emotions as he paid tribute to a man he described as “a brother in every sense.” The singer recounted years of friendship marked by shared travels, celebrations, and business ventures, highlighting Ubiribo’s “boundless energy and loyalty.”
“He showed up for everyone,” Davido said during the service, pausing at intervals as his voice broke. “Tiny was the kind of person who made life feel bigger, louder, and more meaningful.”
Ubiribo had long been a familiar presence within Davido’s camp, often seen at major events and celebrations. Their close bond was evident in key life moments: Davido performed at Ubiribo’s lavish lobola ceremony in Zimbabwe in 2022 and later served as best man at his wedding in August 2025.
Outside the church, dozens of associates and supporters gathered in a show of solidarity, with a convoy of luxury vehicles lining the streets, an understated but symbolic tribute to Ubiribo’s larger-than-life persona and influence within social and business circles.
Attendees described the late businessman as charismatic and deeply connected, someone who bridged relationships across entertainment and entrepreneurship. “He was a unifier,” one mourner said. “You could feel his presence the moment he walked into a room.”
However, Ubiribo’s life was not without controversy. Past allegations linking him to drug trafficking had circulated in previous years, though these claims were never formally addressed in court. The subject remained largely absent from the funeral proceedings, as speakers chose to focus on his personal relationships and impact on those closest to him.
The service concluded with prayers and a final procession, as mourners filed past the casket in quiet reflection. For many, the gathering was less about unresolved questions and more about honoring a life that left a strong imprint on a tight-knit community.
As Davido and his associates continue to navigate the loss, those who attended said the emotional farewell underscored the fragility of life and the enduring value of friendship.
