Galatasaray have rejected a reported €120 million bid from Atletico Madrid for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, underlining their determination to retain one of Europe’s most in-form forwards following a title-winning campaign.
The 27-year-old forward, who played a central role in Galatasaray’s Turkish Super Lig triumph, has scored more than 40 goals across all competitions this season. Club officials are understood to value him at €150 million or higher, significantly above Atletico’s reported offer.
Osimhen only joined Galatasaray on a permanent deal last summer from Napoli for €75 million, a move that initially raised eyebrows but has since proven to be a masterstroke. His prolific form has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.
Speaking recently, club president Dursun Özbek downplayed speculation about a possible exit, stating that the player is settled and content in Istanbul. “Osimhen is happy here, and we are building something strong,” he said, suggesting the club has no immediate intention to sell.
Atletico Madrid’s interest comes amid uncertainty surrounding their attacking options, with potential departures prompting the Spanish side to explore high-profile replacements. However, there has been no official confirmation from the club regarding a formal bid.
The situation has sparked debate among fans and analysts. Some argue Osimhen should remain in Turkey to lead Galatasaray’s push in next season’s UEFA Champions League, while others believe a move to a top-five European league could further elevate his career. Clubs such as Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have also been loosely linked with the striker in recent months.
For now, Galatasaray appear firm in their stance. With the transfer window approaching and interest in Osimhen expected to intensify, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining whether the Nigerian star remains in Istanbul or becomes the subject of one of the summer’s biggest transfers.
